So many Selena's Song fans have asked me: What inspired you to write The Siren Series?
My answer: Approximately 20-some-ish years ago, when I was carrying my eldest child, I saw a taped performance of 'Yanni: Live at the Acropolis' which you can view below:
During the incredible performances, I fell in love with one piece in particular, 'Aria' so much, that I would watch it over and over...and over again to the point that my daughter would start kicking in time to the music from inside of my tummy. FYI: she technically attended her first live concert (Duran Duran) in utero. Perhaps that is why she was born a natural singer...my first Siren!
[In case you are wondering, my youngest daughter endured the same treatment minus DD]
Over the years, I would often daydream of a world where real Sirens existed. They would spend their days perfecting the songs they learned from the birds and spend their nights punishing wicked men. Several years later, that same thought plagued me...obsessed me...consumed me. Writing it all down was the only thing that helped.
To my relief, Selena's Song: Book One of The Siren Series was completed in 2018.
Whew!
Until the next time,
I wish you peace, joy, and great books to read!
