The Secret of the Sand

Dragon glass...Volcanic glass...Black glass...

Whatever the name you wish to call it, it is Obsidian.

What is obsidian? In scientific terms, Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava is extruded from a volcano that cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is an igneous rock that is produced from felsic lava, rich in elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminum, potassium, and sodium.

In the Information Technology world, Obsidian is a powerful knowledge base that works on top of a local folder of plain text Markdown files.

According to Metaphysics, the Black Obsidian Stone is a powerful cleanser of psychic smog created within one's aura and is believed to be a strong psychic protection stone. It has powerful metaphysical properties that help to shield against negativity. The energy of these stones may stimulate the gift of prophecy and may boost precognition.

But why is it important to Sirens?

As many of The Siren Series fans know, Siren DNA consists of large quantities of this rare particle. It is what enables Selena and her family to 'tap' into and draw energy from the Earth. It is the source of their power. It gives them clear minds and shrewd cunning. Obsidian also helps them to abate their more predatory nature and connect with their latent humanity. Unknown to Selena, the black sand shores of her maternal homeland cleanses her both physically and cognitively and subconsciously awakens her humanity as well as fuels and magnifies her preternatural abilities.

What is the main reason I chose obsidian? I have always wanted to visit Hawai'i's Punaluʻu famed black sand shores. I have daydreamed about discarding my shoes and enjoying the feel of it between my toes. And FYI, one day soon, I will.

So until the next time, I leave you with this Book Quote...

I wish you peace, joy, and great books to read!
