Let us hypothesize for a moment on the origins of The Sirens...
(Adjusting my invisible glasses and attempting to appear more collegiate).
Unlike Selena's Song, which is set in the Caribbean, Aria takes place in the Mediterranean, specifically on the island of Capri. In my lore, the ancient Sirens were born in the waters surrounding Capri. Why the Mediterranean? Well...The Siren Series is based on Greek mythology...duh!
Seriously though, ever since I read my first book of Greek mythological stories, I have been a dedicated fan. Some of my most favorite ones are Pandora's Box, The Abduction of Persephone, Theseus and The Minotaur, and Daedalus and Icarus...to name just a few. However, as you may have already guessed, The Siren myth truly speaks to my heart.
These beings, in my most humble opinion, have received a bad rap. Often, they are portrayed as compassionless, murderous seductresses, but in fact, they are misunderstood sensitive beings. After all, did the Greek bard Homer (author of The Iliad and The Odyssey) actually know The Sirens? No...no he did not! And did he 'fact-check' or 'interview' these supposedly deadly creatures? Again...I am pretty sure he did not!
Fortunately, in my contemporary fish-tale, many of these 'misunderstandings' are debunked as the adventure continues in and around Capri, Italy where Selena and her family travel in order to learn about their famed lineage. Little do they know there are scarier and more terrifying beings that lurk in the shadows and when the tables turn (and not for the best) all Hades breaks out!
So what happens when the Predators become the Prey? Read Aria: Book Two of The Siren Series this November to find out!
Until then, I wish you peace, joy, and great books to read!
